Shun Newbern is a popular funeral service profession speaker in the U.S.  This author, and publisher delivers his messages with passion, humor and charisma by connecting the funeral service principles with the audience.   After graduating from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science he obtained his licenses as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. He has a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from the University of La Verne where he is presently working toward a Master of Science in Leadership and Management. He has worked as a Funeral Director and the Quality Control Supervising Embalmer for nearly a decade for the largest mortuary in North America.

This funeral service virtuoso is the founder of Shun Newbern & Associates Consulting of Menifee, California. The firm provides education to the profession and consulting support in the field of funeral service.

Shun is the President of Nu Chapter of Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, Past President of Los Angeles County Funeral Directors Association,  and Past National President of Epsilon. He is a motivational speaker on personal leadership and has written as well published a series of articles on embalming, funeral ethics, prep room management and various funeral service related matters internationally.

He has been a presenter for National Funeral Directors Association, American Society of Embalmers, Epsilon Nu Delta Mortuary Fraternity, International Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Association, National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association and several state associations. Shun stresses the hallmark of excellence indicative of the skilled and knowledgeable embalmer is the willingness to provide quality results every time with every procedure.

He has nearly 20 years of funeral service and embalming experience. During his tour of duty as an embalmer he has embalmed approximately 12,000 bodies for large volume funeral establishments. In 2000, Shun spearheaded the “Professional Development Embalming Seminars” in California for advanced embalming and restorative art studies. He is developing the “Funeral Service Ethics Institute” for funeral professionals.

            “We are all the sum total of all the individuals who have in some way contributed to our lives” says Shun. He believes that everything we learn has been learned from someone. Shun acknowledges that his professional acumen, wisdom and knowledge is due in great part to dedicated embalmers such as: Jack Adams, Ronnie Jones, Anthony S. Felder, Edward Manigault (deceased) Vaughn Nixon, and Robert Yount. Because of his professionalism and attention to detail, he is at the forefront of funeral service innovation.
